Laura Iris Nave
Laura began her love affair with movement as a young dancer. She studied various disciplines, among them ballet, Duncan technique, belly dance and ballroom dance. Laura continued to dance during her time at Brown University, where she earned her B.A. in American Civilization and Gender Studies. She was the co-director of Fusion Dance Company and a choreographer for Mezcla Performing Arts Troupe. Upon graduation, Laura moved to New York and continued to dance while pursuing a corporate career. After a few years, her full-time focus returned to her true passion, movement. Laura studied the classical Pilates method at True Pilates New York, home of Romana Kryzanowska’s Pilates. She completed her certification owing to the world-class instruction of master teachers such as Sari Mejia Santos, Cynthia Shipley, Jerome Weinberg, Anthony Rabara and Phoebe Higgins. Laura began her Pilates career at Equinox and was promoted to manager of the Pilates studio at their flagship Columbus Circle location. She returned to Providence in 2013 to open Rare Form Pilates, a private Pilates studio committed to bringing the classical work to the Rhode Island community. She brings her passion, knowledge and skilled eye to every individualized session.
Laura is also a certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Feel free to inquire about personal health and nutrition coaching in addition to Pilates instruction.
